S.F. Chronicle’s future brightens
Posted on | January 24, 2008 | No Comments

Things are definitely looking up this morning at the San Francisco Chronicle. Phil Bronstein, the editor who turned a decent broadsheet into a stupefying tabloid, is moving on. Bronstein, who once had a foot nearly gnawed off when he tried to befriend a Komodo Dragon, will be taking broader strategic responsibilities at Hearst, which owns The Chronicle.
Bronstein, once married to Sharon Stone (right, without goatee), says somone with “deep Bay Area roots” will take over the editor’s slot. Here’s hoping it’s Matt Wilson up at the Marin IJ, a paper that has been revamped and vastly improved under his leadership. It’s doubtful, though, as Wilson lost the Chronicle job to the ex-Mr. Stone when Hearst bought The Chronicle.
