Weitzner lands at Ziff-Davis Enterprise

Posted on | January 7, 2008 | No Comments

Former CMP CEO Steve Weitzner, who was moved aside late last year in a management reshuffle, has re-emerged, just as quickly as I’d hoped and expected. He was named today as Chairman and CEO of Ziff Davis Enterprise, which was acquired from ZD by Insight Venture Partners. Said Insight Managing Partner Deven Parekh:

"Steve and Insight share a vision of growing Ziff Davis Enterprise into the leading solutions provider for technology marketers --at the cutting edge of B2B industry changes. With the talent and products in place and with the capital to build, Steve can take Ziff DavisEnterprise to this next level."

The complete announcement moved on PR Newswire this morning.

I think this is way better for Ziff-Davis than it is for Steve. Steve’s leadership is the best thing for righting a sinking ship. But this may be more like the “Poseidon Adventure” than “Master and Commander”

Not to name names, but I struggle to think of one ship in the ocean that hasn’t struck an iceberg already, and I’m not restricting that analysis to journalism!
