How ’bout those Giants?

The San Francisco Giants may have finished this season dead last in the Western Division but they finished the Mitchell report in first. Barry Bonds, Bobby Estalella, Benito Santiago, Armando Rios, Marvin “I Lost it in the Sun” Benard, Mark Carreon, Jason Christiansen, and Matt Herges all were named in the report as being associated with performance-enhancing drugs during their tenure with the Giants. A number of other players in the study rolled through the Giants organization at some point in the career but weren’t cited as having used illegal substances while wearing the Orange and Black.

The report isn’t good for former trainer Stan Conte, now with the Dodgers, equipment chief Mike Murphy, GM Brian Sabean or chief bottle washer Peter Magowan. They all come off looking like boobs or cover-up artists in this report. No one can control who’s lurking in the clubhouse; no one can remember exactly what they said; no one can stand up to the big goober with the two lockers and Barca-Lounger in the corner…

We knew it was all about getting butts in seats with the Bonds b.s. in recent years, that we were looking at a Hollywood western set with false fronts. We suspected they were turning a blind eye to clubhouse shenanagins on a wide scale. Now we know.

All those players named above are gone from Phone Booth Park. Sabean and Magowan are still there.
