Brian Fuller's blog on the media, marketing and content creation

One of the weird things about turning down a new job and getting laid off is that one becomes dead man walking almost immediately, even the guy who’s run the show for the past six years at EE Times. No one seeks advice or wants to know what outstanding projects need to be attended to in one’s absence. It’s just odd. It’s quiet like standing in a forest and waiting for the distant sound of traffic that never comes. I got used to it pretty quickly though. Now the challenge is a bit different.
This is because yesterday I turned in my trusty laptop, my office badge and my cellphone. Now we have computers at home, but I love my laptop. So going without it is odd, almost like living without an arm. Since I’m taking off July, I’ll live without a personal laptop (I’m stealing my wife’s right now) and a cellphone, and I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to be thrilled.
So here’s to the road untraveled.
