Second Life and Reuters

Posted on | October 18, 2006 | No Comments

The most mind-blowing thing: Reuters sets up a bureau in the Second Life VR world! There’s virtual building, avatars, virtual currency and Reuters is now following it all, or at least real life reporter Adam Pasick, who functions as Adam Reuters in the virtual world. There’s also a melding of real and virtual news on the feed. I, frankly, don’t have my head around this yet, but it’s very provocative. Best demo: the making of a guitar for the Suzanne Vega avatar.
Apparently there are a million residents of Second Life and a quick check of the website finds that they’ve spent nearly a half-million dollars in the site in the past 24 hours.
